WordPress

What Is This?

Sometimes it feels like WordPress runs the Internet.

Last time I checked over 25% of the sites on the Internet used WordPress so it can be a pretty valuable tools to build up some knowledge with.

But what exactly is WordPress.

It’s easy to think that it’s a blogging platform and while bloggers do use it to blog, the reality is that WordPress is actually a Content Management System (CMS).

This site doesn’t look like a typical blog and yet it uses WordPress to power it. So what are the advantages of learning WordPress?

Because WordPress is so popular, it has its own ecosystem.

  • A lot of the ghostwriting/freelance writing jobs use WordPress so understanding the ins and outs of it is pretty popular.
  • People like to have pretty sites so learning how to create beautiful WordPress themes makes sense.
  • People want their sites to have certain features which can only happen with plugins so becoming a plugin developer is a thing.

And what’s even better is that it doesn’t take much to learn WordPress. Maybe a day or two to fully get comfortable with it.

From there you can manage WordPress sites for people as a side hustle.

Overall, just learning WordPress opens the doors for a lot of different side hustles if you’re really trying to get the most bang for the buck.
